Homer Bailey Throws a No Hitter
Reds continue to Dominate
On Friday Reds' Starter Homer Bailey threw the 7th no hitter of the season against the Pittsburgh Pirates. It took the La Grange, Texas native 115 pitches to notch the 27 outs. It was his second complete game of the year and his first shutout. Bailey and the Reds have already clinched the NL Central so Friday's game was just icing on the cake for a Reds team that is tied with the Nationals for the best record in baseball. Bailey admitted his goal entering the game was to make it through the 5th inning so he could reach 200 innings pitched on the season. Homer did more than just make it through five innings, he was dominate striking out 7 through the first five frames. He finished the game with 10 strikeouts only walking one. The Reds would win the game 1-0.
It was a long time coming for the former first round pick (7th overall in 2004). Homer was once touted as the Reds top prospect back in 2007. Friday night's game was just a glimpse of what Bailey's potential is and could be.
