Five Potential Stars From Each Division:
AL West
Mike Trout- Who else did you think I would start this list with? He has done everything and more for this potent Angels squad. Trout came up in early July last year as a 19-year-old and showed lots of promise (5 home runs and 16 RBI's in 40 games.) He would eventually get sent back down for more seasoning. This year he is back up, and here to stay. Trout leads the team in average (.348), hits (96), runs (61), and stolen bases (30). The Angels aren't exactly a team that struggles to hit. This young man is only 20 and looks like an elite player already. |

Kyle Seager- This 24-year-old rookie is getting his second taste of the bigs this season, and was handed the third base job with a struggling Chone Figgins. He has been one of Seattle's most consistent hitters this season, although that isn't saying too much. His 54 RBI's pace the club, and his 10 bombs are second to first baseman Justin Smoak. Tied for the team lead with 21 doubles, Seager looks to be a mainstay in Seattle's young and promising lineup for years to come.
Ryan Cook- Young Ryan Cook is helping Oakland fans forget all about Andrew Bailey. Coming over to Oakland in the Trevor Cahill trade, Cook has finally provided some consistency at the back end of the A's bullpen. His 1.37 ERA in 39.1 innings pitched are rock solid. His 49 strikeouts and only 6 earned runs landed him in Kansas City for the All Star Game.
Tommy Milone- This promising lefty came over from Washington in the Gio Gonzalez deal, and he has been a blessing in disguise for this contending Athletics team. The Athletics never have a problem taking no-names and making the into big names, and I think Milone will be one of the next wave of big name guys from this rotation. Milone has 9 wins this year in a pretty tough division. He pitches to contact very well and only has 26 walks this year in 114.1 innings pitched. He does give up a lot of hits (113), but his 3.54 ERA mean they aren't scoring.
Robbie Ross- this young lefty reliever has a chance to be special. I don't know whether the Rangers see him as a starter down the road, or as more of a back-of-the-bullpen guy. But so far in his rookie season he has been near unhittable. He has 6 wins, which is more than most starters in the league. His 0.95 ERA and .204 BAA is very impressive. No matter what part of the pitching staff Ross is on, he will be valuable to the Rangers.
