Mike Trout LAA
Look at what happened to Pujols once Trout was called up. Most VALUABLE Player, his value to the Angels is immeasurable. If the Halos make a run and challenge the Rangers (4 games back right now) for the division, Trout will earn himself a few more votes. Trout currently has a .341 average with 12 home runs, 88 hits and 26 steals in only 64 games. Oh ya, he's 20 years old.
Miguel Cabrera DET
Miggy has had somewhat of a quiet first half despite hitting 18 home runs and having a .324 average. Many naysayers will point to the prescence of Prince Fielder as an aid to his success but my rebutle is simple; he's playing a position he hasn't played for a few years and is still top 10 in most hitting categories in the American League. The adjustments he had to make to play third should not go unnoticed. Cabrera leads the Tigers with 71 RBI's and 111 hits.
Edwin Encarnacion TOR
If you called E5 having these numbers at the All Star Break give yourself a high five and then fly back to heaven because you are out of this world. The only person that could have predicted this is living in New York and answers to the name Tebow. Edwin has a .295 average, 91 hits, 23 homers and 9 steals. He's top ten in slugging and homers. If Toronto can make a late playoff push, Encarnacion may get some MVP votes.

Jose Bautista TOR
To put some of these numbers into perspective:
The Oakland Athletics have 636 hits as a team this year.
The Tampa Bay Rays have 649 hits as a team this year.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have 51 home runs as a team this year.
The San Francisco Giants have 50 home runs as a team this year.
The San Diego Padres have 53 home runs as a team this year.
The Baltimore Orioles have 31 steals as a team this year.
The Detroit Tigers have 33 steals as a team this year.
Justin Verlander DET
The Tiger's ace will be in the discussion again but a 9-5 record is not as impressive as Weaver's 10-1, Sale's 10-2 or even Ivan Nova's 10-3 mark. I love Verlander but I have a hard time believing he will repeat. I do have him ranked as my number one pitcher in my June 28th Pitcher Rankings but I don't see him winning this award unless Weaver goes down with an injury or goes ice cold for a few weeks.
Chris Sale CHW
Who saw this coming? I was high on him back in my May 28th Pitcher Rankings but I did not think he would continue with these types of performances. Sale deserves a lot of recognition for the numbers he's put up this year.
