The San Francisco Giants beat the Houston Astros Wednesday night behind Matt Cain's perfect game. The Astros are now 10 games under .500 and are beginning to look like the team we thought they'd be before the season began. The Giants are now 9 games over .500 and sit in 2nd place in the NL West. This Giants team is coming alive and if Tim Lincecum can figure things out, they will be a force to be reckoned with come October. If Lincecum continues to struggle I could see him in the Bullpen or in another uniform come the trade deadline. If Lincecum is dealt, the team will rely on Madison Bumgarner, Barry Zito, Ryan Vogelsong and Matt Cain. Cain made his "pitch" to be the teams Ace on Wednesday by throwing the 22nd perfect game in the history of Major League Baseball.

Cain threw 125 pitches, had 14 strikeouts and absolutley embarrassed the Astros' hitters. Cain moves to 8-2 with the perfecto and lowers his already stellar WHIP to an incredible 0.85. His ERA now sits at 2.18. The 27 year old Alabama native has always been one of the most underrated pitchers in the game but the Giants knew he was special when they inked him to an incredible deal earlier in the season. Cain may be the best pitcher in the game today...

If you think Cain is, or isn't, the best pitcher in the game today hit me on Twitter and we can discuss it @Awies28
