June 8th Fantasy Baseball Update

Entering Friday night's games there are a handful of players I want you to keep an eye on. Some of these players warrant a look if you're fantasy team is struggling or if you're looking to get that late push in a weekly league.

Quintin Berry DET
I'm a fan of this kid, it's a shame he wasn't called up sooner but at age 27, he is doing more than what was expected. His biggest downfall is that he has 20 strikeouts in 62 at bats but when he does make contact (.452 BABIP) he gets on. He's 7 for 7 in steals.

Dexter Fowler COL
With 8 home runs he has already topped his previous career high by 2 (6 HR's in 2010). Like Berry, he has yet to be caught stealing in 2012 (6 for 6).

Justin Smoak SEA
Smoak has never hit over .240 so his current .229 average is not a surprise but the 29 RBI's through his first 53 games may come as a shock to many of us. His 10 HR's are also a tad bit of a surprise. He is, without a doubt, on pace for a career year but keep in mind he only has 3 doubles. Last year, in 123 games, he has 24 doubles and 15 homers compared to the 10 long balls and 3 doubles so far this year.

Lucas Duda NYM
A .262 average is nice but Duda offers plus power. With 5 bombs over his past 8 games, Duda is on a bit of a power kick.

Matt Harrison TEX
7-3 this year is great but a 4.37 ERA is something Harrison owners would like to see lowered in his next start, tonight at San Francisco.

Jarrod Parker OAK
Over his last 21 innings he's only allowed 1 earned run and has tallied 18 K's versus 8 walks. Don't expect a lot of wins but the ERA, WHIP, and K's will be solid.

Yonder Alonso SD
After getting off to a hot start Alonso has slowed down immensely. He is 2 for his last 33, and the home ballpark isn't an advantage.

Carlos Pena TB
He's cold, don't read into it. The story with Pena is the same as always. Hopefully you can beat your league mates to the waiver wire once he heats up again.

Daisuke Matsuzaka BOS
Dice-K will start Saturday (tomorrow) at home against the Washington Nationals.
