The No Hitter
Mets pitcher Johan Santana has thrown the first no hitter in the history of the Mets. The franchise had to wait 8,019 games over 50 plus years to finally have a no hitter to their name. It took a career high 134 pitches from the Venezuelan ace (5 walks, 8 strikeouts) but he got the job done. I would not be shocked to see the Mets skip him next time through in the rotation, a la Edwin Jackson after his 149 pitch no hitter a few years ago. Santana should climb my next pitcher rankings as I'm sure he will near my top 20.
The Call Up
The Padres have called up top catching prospect Yasmani Grandal. I was asked about him on twitter earlier and his long term keeper value. I would have to say there is maybe 8 catchers out there right now (Posey, J. Montero, Santana, McCann, Yadier, Mesoraco, M. Montero, and Weiters) I'd rather own in a KEEPER league. That would mean if I'm in a ten team keeper league he's worthy. Weird thing was that I mentioned Grandal less than a week ago and how I thought the Padres should call him up soon and they finally do it. Here's proof.
Dustin Pedroia- DTD probably won't land on DL
Matt Kemp- Probably 4-6 weeks
Carlos Gonzalez- 6 HR past 6 games. .332 average on season. MVP?
Quentin Berry- .364 since being called up. Go Pick Up!
Carlos Quentin- Since coming off DL has 3 HR in 4 games
Dexter Fowler- 3 HR past 6 games (includes 2 SB's) and 14 for his last 23.
Dayan Viciedo- 4 HR past 8 games. .291 average on season.
My ex girlfriends shoulders.
Brian McCann- .247 average on season. Missing a lot of games.
Jason Heyward- 4 for his last 23, 1 HR, 0 SB
Ben Zobrist- 3 for his last 24, 0 HR, 2 SB
Rickie Weeks- .158 season average
Cliff Pennington- If you own him get off the site, you're clearly not listening to us.
