June 28th Starting Pitcher Rankings

Which aces are available for trade and does top prospect Trevor Bauer make the top 50?

1. Justin Verlander DET (1)
2. Clayton Kershaw LAD (2)
3. Matt Cain SF (3)
4. Jered Weaver LAA (8)
5. Cole Hamels PHI (4)
6. Stephen Strasburg WSH (7)
7. Zack Greinke MIL (10)

Greinke is probably on the trade block if a contract extension isn't reached by the trade deadline.

8. Felix Hernandez SEA (9)
9. David Price TB (11)
10. Gio Gonzalez WSH (12)
11. CC Sabathia NYY (6)
12. Cliff Lee PHI (5)
13. Madison Bumgarner SF (13)
14. C.J. Wilson LAA (14)
15. R.A. Dickey NYM (36)
16. Johnny Cueto CIN (28)

Zack Greinke is his own agent... not sure that's a good thing

Felix Hernandez is a better second half pitcher than most would believe. Since 2009 he's had a 2.54 ERA post All Star break compared to his, still stellar, 2.88 ERA prior to the break. CC Sabathia is expected to return to the Yankee's rotation shortly after the mid summer classic (Grade 1 groin strain). And Cliff Lee falls out of the top 10 this week. The long ball has been an issue with Lee this year, he's allowed 9 home runs in 84.2 innings.

17. James Shields TB (19)
18. Chris Sale CHW (27)
19. Jordan Zimmermann WAS (20)
20. Adam Wainwright STL (21)
21. Matt Garza CHC (29)

Look for Matt Garza to be traded. Possible suitors: Red Sox, Yankees, Dodgers, Giants, Rangers or the Cardinals. My money is on the Yankees.

22. James McDonald PIT (30)
23. Yovani Gallardo MIL (24)
24. Josh Johnson MIA (31)
25. Jake Peavy CHW (18)

I believe in numbers 22-25. I think they have all found a rhythm and will remain top 30 pitchers by season's end.

26. Dan Haren LAA (16)
27. Johan Santana NYM (32)
28. Jon Lester BOS (33)
29. Yu Darvish TEX (23)
30. Ian Kennedy ARI (17)
31. Matt Moore TB (43)
32. Tommy Hanson ATL (37)
33. Matt Latos CIN (35)
34. Wade Miley ARI (NR)

Wade Miley is 9-3 with a 2.19 ERA on the season. Be weary of a cap limit on the 25 year old.

35. Vance Worley PHI (46)
36. Anibal Sanchez MIA (22)
37. Edwin Jackson WSH (45)
38. A.J. Burnett PIT (48)
39. Tim Hudson ATL (44)
40. Lance Lynn STL (41)
41. Ricky Romero TOR (25)
42. Brandon Morrow TOR (39)
43. Hiroki Kuroda NYY (50)
44. Colby Lewis TEX (34)
45. Trevor Bauer ARI (NR)

How good will Bauer be?
Bauer is up. At some point I think he'll reach my top 30.
His first major league start @ATL 4IP - 5H - 2ER - 3BB - 3K - 74 pitches

46. Ryan Vogelsong
47. Jeremy Hellickson TB (42)
48. Wandy Rodriguez HOU (47)

I have Wandy ranked fairly high not because of his numbers but because of him switching teams. Like Matt Garza, I think that Rodriguez will bring back some decent prospects to help rebuild his current team. Possible suitors for Wandy: Red Sox, Yankees, Marlins, Phillies or the White Sox. Let me know what you think on Twitter @Awies28

49. Jarrod Parker OAK (NR)
50. Matt Harrison TEX (NR)
