June 28th Hitter Rankings

Post All Star splits now come into play.

As we approach the All Star Break there are a lot of interesting stats we have to take a look at. I see a handful of stars turning things around soon and some hot streaks about to come to a screeching halt. Keep an eye on your fantasy player's career splits after the All Star Break as that will foreshadow their future value. For instance, over the past 3 years Aramis Ramirez has hit .301 after the Mid Summer Classic compared to a .270 average prior to the break. Before I begin, Andrew McCutchen for NL MVP???

1. Ryan Braun MIL (1)
2. Joey Votto CIN (4)
3. Miguel Cabrera DET (2)
4. Carlos Gonzalez COL (5)
5. Jose Bautista TOR (6)
6. Andrew McCutchen PIT (7)
7. Robinson Cano NYY (8)
8. Josh Hamilton TEX (3)
9. David Wright NYM (9)
10. Albert Pujols LAA 1B (11)
11. Adam Jones BAL (13)

Is it time to believe in the Pirates?
With a .306 BABIP and a career low 16.6% strikeout rate, I'm buying Jones to continue his great season.

12. Prince Fielder DET (12)
13. Adrian Beltre TEX (19)
14. Curtis Granderson NYY (14)
15. Ian Kinsler TEX (18)

Over the past 3 years Kinsler has 37 HR in 922 pre All Star break at bats. In 655 post All Star break at bats he has 35 HR. I'm a little high on Adrian Beltre but since 2009 after the All Star break Beltre has a .312 average with a 17.6 HR/AB rate.

16. Adrian Gonzalez BOS (16)
17. Justin Upton ARI (26)
18. Hanley Ramirez MIA (10)
19. Matt Holliday STL (25)

Adrian Gonzalez on the year, when hitting 5th, has a .382 average but he's hitting under .250 in the 3 and 4 holes. If Valentine can recognize this, then I'm buying Adrian to have a successful second half. Justin Upton is riding a modest 6 game hit streak; however, in 5 of those games he had 2 hits. I think Upton is beginning to turn things around.

20. Giancarlo Stanton MIA (17)
21. Michael Bourn ATL (21)
22. Matt Kemp LAD (22)
23. Mike Trout LAA (35)
24. Paul Konerko CHW (20)
25. Starlin Castro CHC (23)

Believe in Trout, 20 HR and 50 SB are going to be within reach by October.

26. Jay Bruce CIN (30)
27. Brandon Phillips CIN (41)
28. Brett Lawrie TOR (36)
29. Elvis Andrus TEX (24)
30. Mark Teixeira NYY (28)
31. David Ortiz BOS (34)
32. Edwin Encarnacion TOR (32)
33. Jason Kipnis CLE (38)
34. Melky Cabrera SF (39)
35. Jose Reyes MIA (31)
36. Shin Soo Choo CLE (37)
37. Hunter Pence PHI (33)
38. Dan Uggla ATL (27)

Mike Trout is the real deal

With Dan Uggla's recent struggles he is now down to a .240 batting average. The good news is that he typically hits better the second half of the season.

39. Asdrubal Cabrera CLE (57)
40. Dustin Pedroia BOS (29)
41. Carlos Beltran STL (53)
42. Alex Rodriguez NYY (49)
43. Mark Trumbo LAA (48)
44. Shane Victorino PHI (40)
45. Billy Butler KC (43)
46. Nelson Cruz TEX (44)
47. Mike Napoli TEX (45)

Since 2009 Mike Napoli has had 584 post All Star at bats, he hit 39 HR with a .291 average. In 620 pre All Star at bats he's hit 37 HR with a .258 average. I'm expecting a decent turnaround for the slugging backstop.

48. Michael Cuddyer COL (47)
49. Buster Posey SF (63)
50. Pablo Sandoval SF* (64)
51. Andre Ethier LAD (50)
52. Ben Zobrist TB (51)
53. Corey Hart MIL (46)
54. Austin Jackson DET (67)
55. Jason Heyward ATL (59)
56. Eric Hosmer KC (55)
57. Jimmy Rollins PHI (66)
58. Martin Prado ATL (56)
59. Aramis Ramirez MIL (80)

As I said in the opening, Aramis Ramirez is a much better hitter in the second half. Sticking with the Brewers, I think Corey Hart is on the trade block. Possible buyers for Hart would be the Dodgers, Marlins, Blue Jays, Pirates and Giants. Maybe even the White Sox. Let me know what you think on Twitter @Awies28

60. Bryce Harper WSH (61)
61. B.J. Upton TB (68)
62. Will Middlebrooks BOS (NR)
63. Joe Mauer MIN (73)
64. Angel Pagan SF (83)
65. Allen Craig STL (85)
66. Carlos Santana CLE (52)
67. Derek Jeter NYY (54)
68. Nick Swisher NYY (82)
69. Brian McCann ATL (69)
70. Alex Gordon KC (90)
71. Jose Altuve HOU (76)

I've loved Altuve ever since my first hitter rankings.

72. Josh Willingham MIN (72)
73. Trevor Plouffe MIN (98)
74. Neil Walker PIT (93)
75. Yadier Molina STL (75)
76. Colby Rasmus TOR (NR)
77. Mike Moustakes KC (96)
78. Matt Weiters BAL (58)

Move over Mauer and Morneau, Josh and Trevor supply Minnesota's power now.

79. Desmond Jennings TB (62)
80. Adam Dunn CHW (60)
81. Michael Young TEX (65)

Young offers average, Jennings speed, and Dunn has the power, put them all together and you get Ryan Braun.

82. Paul Goldschmidt ARI (NR)
83. Ian Desmond WSH (100)
84. Alejandro De Aza CHW (87)
85. Aaron Hill ARI (NR)
86. Freddie Freeman ATL (77)
87. Ichiro Suzuki SEA (91)
88. David Freese STL (95)
89. J.J. Hardy BAL (71)
90. Jason Kubel ARI (NR)
91. Miguel Montero ARI (NR)

I have 4 Arizona Diamondbacks from 82-91. Keep an eye on the D-Backs making a push for the division in the second half.

92. Torii Hunter LAA (NR)
93. Troy Tulowitzki COL (15)
94. Evan Longoria TB* (42)
95. Anthony Rizzo CHC (99)
96. Jesus Montero SEA (88)
97. Yoenis Cespedes OAK (NR)
98. Alfonso Soriano CHC (NR)
99. Dexter Fowler COL (86)
100. Kevin Youkilis CHW (NR)

I think Youkilis will play better in Chicago, here's why.

Anthony Rizzo has been called up

Thanks for reading my June 28th Hitter Ranks. Stay tune for my pitcher ranks and relief ranks, I will release them later today. My next batch of rankings won't come until after the All Star break, but feel free to find me on Twitter @Awies28 to discuss any hitters you feel should be on this list.
