The number 1 and 2 seeds in the Western Conference have swept their opening round match ups. The Thunder knocked out the defending champion Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs demolished the 8th seeded Utah Jazz.

James Harden was a key contributor in the Thunder's sweep averaging over 18 points per game off the bench. Durant averaged over 26 points and over 7 rebounds per game. The Thunder will more than likely have to face Kobe and the Lakers in the second round. If Oklahoma City is going to have a chance in that series Kendrick Perkins has to play out of his mind against Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum. The two Laker 7 footers present match up problems for the young Thunder. The Lakers should also get "professional elbow extraordinaire" Metta World Peace back at some point during the series.

The Spurs will get to face the lowest seed that survives the first round. They may end up playing the Clippers who hold a 3-1 series lead over Memphis right now. If the Spurs face off against Blake Griffin and crew it will be the Old School Greg Popovich style of play versus the new look, CP3 led, Clippers.

All I know for sure is that the Western Conference playoffs are heating up. I'm excited to see how things play out.
