Dodgers manager Don Mattingly has announced that Javy Guerra will no longer be the team's closer. Guerra started the year on fire converting 5 straight save opportunities and 7 of his first 8 but, has struggled since. After recording his 7th save on April 20th Guerra has 2 losses, 2 blown saves and has allowed 6 earned runs in 4 innings. Guerra relied on getting the ground ball early on in the year but in his last 5 outings he's gotten only 5 ground balls, compared to 12 fly balls. When you through in the mid 90's you don't want to see the ball in the air. Kenley Jansen will get the first opportunity for saves with Guerra's demotion. Jansen was a fantasy favorite entering the season due to his strikeout abilities. If Jansen holds the job we could see Craig Kimbrel-like production from the 24 year old flamethrower.
My suggestion is to go pick up Jansen right now, he's worth every penny.
