Matt Kemp to DL

The best player in the game today, not named Josh Hamilton, has hit the 15 day DL. Matt Kemp has had a monster season to this point with a .359 average, 12 homers, 29 runs scored, 28 runs batted in and 2 steals. Kemp was the second best fantasy hitter before going down. He has a strained hamstring and is expected to miss only the minimum. He didn't want to hit the DL but this is honestly the best move for the team. KeMVP now has t sit for 2 weeks and watch his first place Dodgers face the first place Cardinals this weekend and division rivals Diamondbacks and Rockies. This time off will only, in my mind, help unleash the beast within Kemp. This is a major blow to his fantasy owners (including myself) but here are some replacement options and sleepers.

In House Replacement Options:

Bobby Abreu LAD
The Venezuelan veteran will see a majority of at bats with Kemp going down. Abreu through 51 at bats this year has 13 hits (.255) and 9 RBI's. Abreu is worth a look if your in a deeper league.

Jerry Sands LAD
He hit .241 in triple A so far this year but he is a decent NL only play if you need outfield help. He will be in a platoon split most likely playing only against lefties. Sands has a lot of potential, as he was once a top prospect, but temper your expectations on Sands.

Out Of House Replacement Options:

Mitch Moreland TEX
Hitting in the Rangers lineup is a huge plus but he does reserve a few days off per week. When he does play he is hitting .264 with 4 homers to this point.

Jarrod Dyson KC
Dyson has speed, 4 steals in 65 at bats, and with a .292 average he offers fair replacement value for owners looking for speed.

Daniel Nava BOS
Since being called up he's 7 for 12 with a bomb and a theft. Give him a look. The Red Sox offense is still great, it's their pitching that's awful.

Carlos Lee HOU
He was getting dropped in a few leagues but he has had at least 2 hits in his last 3 games and now has a .285 average.
