Yankees GM Brian Cashman has announced that 39 year old Andy Pettitte will pitch this Sunday, May 13th, against the Seattle Mariners. This will be Pettitte's first start since retiring over a year ago. The veteran lefty has a 240-138 career record but more importantly has a new hunger for the game. The Yankees were stacked with starters entering the year but with injuries (Pineda) and horrible slumps (Hughes) the Yankee staff could use some stability. Pettitte should provide just that, as the reports coming from Yankee camp say that he is in great physical shape and should be ready to compete this weekend.
I just picked up Pettitte in a league where i needed some help with my ERA and WHIP. Pettitte has a great chance to get you some wins as well.
