NHL Playoff Notes

Championship Week:
It's the last week of the Fantasy Hockey season and there is a lot to discuss. Besides the obvious injury to Daniel Sedin and the delayed return of Jonathon Toews, there are a lot of little injuries we need to keep an eye on as we enter the championship week. There are plenty of trendy pick ups ready on the waiver wire for you to snag that should help you win it all.

League Update:
Before I get into the fantasy aspect of things I want to give an update on the league as a whole. If you can recall from some of my previous posts on blogspot shortly after the All Star break I was extremely excited to see what the young Ottawa Senators would accomplish the rest of the way. They have yet to disappoint me and they have recently locked up a playoff spot. It will be fun to see these kids as they battle throughout the playoffs. I think the key to their success will rely on the play between the pipes as the team looks to Craig Anderson to shut down opponents.

The race out west is absolutely crazy right now. My Avalanche are falling away and if we don't win out and get some help we will miss the playoffs. In a sense I would not want the 8th seed anyways because nobody will compete with the Canucks. Well maybe the Red Wings and Blues.

After a season of waiting around we finally get to see Sid "The Kid" Crosby back in action. Of course the team catches fire when he returns but, will they continue their recent in the playoffs begin has yet to be seen. It would be good for the league if Crosby went deep in the playoffs because he is the main reason the NHL gets the decent TV ratings they got.

Fantasy Trends:
Not a lot of things to discuss. Let's face it, if your still reading this and your in the championship game you have a pretty solid roster.
  • Vincent Lecavalier TB C- has finally returned from an injury and with a ADP in the top 70 you want his track record on your team.

  • Nikita Nikitin CLS D- for a defender has 6 points in his last 4 games (2G 4A).

  • Rick Nash CLW LW- has continued his great season. On a 5 game point streak (2G 6A).

  • R.J. Umberger CLS C- playing great right now. 4 G in his last 2 games.

  • Shea Weber NSH D- putting up great numbers over the past 5 days (5G 1A).

  • Danny Briere PHI C- has 9 points in his last 5 games (2G 7A).

Deep Sleeper:
  • Maxim Lapierre VAN C- 2G 3A in his last 4 games with a +/- of +6. Not even 1% owned in ESPN.

Words of Advice:
As Roger on American Dad once said, "you think this fake detective agency with real cases and a pretend office in your father's garage is a joke?!?!"

Good Luck!
