Peyton Manning has finally told his agent to negotiate a contract with the...... Denver Broncos. If you recall from the podcast I told you all Manning would be in Denver. In my mind I felt John Elway didn't want Tebow to be his QB. Now he doesn't have to be. Let's break down the fantasy impact of this:
Peyton Manning
His fantasy value is still uncertain and it depends mostly on his health. If he is back to his old tricks come week one then I wouldn't have any problems ranking him in my top 5 QB's. If health issues linger throughout the preseason I will stay away from him. The weapons in Denver are not too bad and with a decent running game the Broncos weapons may give Manning what he needs to have another Manning-like year.
Broncos Skill Players
Most every skill player in Denver saw their fantasy value increase. The wide outs values go through the roof because having a "true" QB like Manning is a much better distributor than Tebow and his questionable decision making. I really like Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas as somewhat sneaky mid round guys in 2012. The one to keep an eye on late would be the slot receiver in Denver, it may end up being Matt Willis.
Broncos TE Situation
I am willing to bet all my jelly beans that Dallas Clark ends up in Denver within the next 10 days or so.
Tim Tebow
Obviously Tebow is on the trade block but is that really the best thing to do? I say your about to have 2 of the highest jersey selling guys in the league this year (Manning and Tebow). Why not hold on Tebow and let him learn from Manning and make your organization some extra cash. Keep in mind Tebow wants to win and he has said he would be willing to do whatever it takes to win. Why not let Tebow run the Wildcat and give him some snaps at full back and/or tight end? Linebacker?
As a Bronco Fan
I am excited for this to become official and if this does happen the Broncos will be the favorites in AFC West. I think the Broncos may become a legit title contender with Peyton.
Side Notes
Alex Smith was somewhat shunned by the 49ers when they began to pursue Peyton so now Smith has a choice to sign elsewhere (Miami) or come back to the best situation available (San Fran). In Tennessee the QB situation is still set for the long term future with Jake Locker even without Manning there to mentor him. RG3 will most likely go to Washington after they dealt away a ton of 1st round picks to St. Louis to move into the 2 spot in the draft. The Seattle Seahawks signed QB Matt Flynn even though he only has a handful of career starts in clean up games in Green Bay.
