2016 Fantasy Baseball Rankings & Projections
Starting Pitcher #71
71. Lucas Giolito WSH
Record - 8-5
ERA - 3.19
WHIP - 1.15
K - 137
Saves - 0
With Jordan Zimmermann leaving for Detroit, the Nationals may look at their 2012 first round draft pick to take his place. Lucas Giolito was arguably the best Right Handed Pitcher in the minor leagues at the end of last season, alongside Mark Appel. He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2012 and has slowly increased his workload each of the next three seasons. Standing at 6' 6" Giolito is physically ready for the Major Leagues, and because the Nats got him 117 innings between High A Ball and Double A Ball last year, it's not crazy to think he'll be available to make 20-22 starts with the Big League club this year. Giolito throws a very good fastball that sits in the mid-90's, a terrific 12-to-6 curveball and an improving changeup. My Giolito projections are based on him making 22 starts for the Nationals this year.
