2016 Fantasy Baseball Rankings & Projections
Starting Pitcher #38
38. Collin McHugh HOU
Record - 17-9
ERA - 3.78
WHIP - 1.19
K - 176
Saves - 0
McHugh really came into his own last year setting new career highs with 19 wins, 32 starts, 203.2 innings pitched and 171 strikeouts. That after having a breakout performance in 2014 when he went 11-9 with a 2.73 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP. He saw some regression in his ERA and WHIP last year but that was inevitable as his BABIP rate went from .253 in 2014 to a normal .299 rate last year. Collin's success is due to his great slider and ability to throw it seemingly anytime he wants. McHugh threw his slider 38.7% of the time last year, the third highest mark in baseball behind only Tyson Ross (41.6%) and Chris Archer (39.2%). I'm expecting more of the same from McHugh this year but be careful where you draft him.
